Peripheral Vascular Disease
Dunbar Medical Imaging and Diagnostics
Peripheral Vascular Disease refers to disease of the arteries in the legs and arms (extremities). Most of us are familiar with the term "hardening of the arteries". Texans do like their barbeque and many were smokers. Over time the arteries narrow, clog and loose elasticity.
This can cause pain and numbness. When the tissues do not receive enough oxygen, they eventually die. You may notice a lack of hair, the skin may become shiny.
PVD is found generally if you are over 50 and especially susceptible are diabetics.
